Welcome To Summerfield Schools

Our Mission

Summerfield School District is dedicated to the concept that all students can learn in a safe, positive, stimulating, and caring environment.

The District

Summerfield Schools is located in Petersburg, Michigan.  Petersburg is a small community in western Monroe County.  Summerfield Schools was consolidated in 1947.   One of the smallest school districts in Monroe County, the district serves the City of Petersburg, Summerfield Township and parts of Ida Township, Dundee Township and Deerfield Township as a K-12 school district.

Approximately 675 students attend Summerfield Schools and 36 teachers serve students in an Elementary School building and a Junior & Senior High School building.  The Junior & Senior High School has been recognized as a Reward School by the Michigan Department of Education. This distinction is due to the overall academic improvement of our students in grades 7 to 12 from academic year 2011-2012 to 2012-2013.

Summerfield Schools offers an excellent academic program at all grade levels with extensive use of technology.  One hundred percent of our instructional staff is rated as highly qualified for their teaching assignments.

District-wide building and infrastructure renovations were recently completed in both schools. Summerfield is a member of the Tri-County Conference and offers numerous male and female inter-scholastic athletics.  At Summerfield, our students and our staff believe in our motto:  Small School, Big Heart.
