🌟 November Community Appreciation Post 🌟

Over the years, Summerfield Schools has been lucky to have incredible parents step up as team photographers β€” capturing everything from athletic events and graduations to dances and musicals. There’s always someone behind the lens making sure our memories are preserved.

One person who truly stands out is Tommy Westrick. You’ll find him at nearly every event where Summerfield students are β€” whether we’re at home in Petersburg or on the road. Tommy spends countless hours taking and editing amazing photos of our students and community, and then generously shares his high-quality images for free.

Want to see his work? Check out Adventure Photography on Facebook β€” you’ll be blown away by how beautifully he showcases our school and families.

🐾While we have thousands of photos taken by Mr. Westrick, it’s rare to find one of him! The two photos below show Tommy in his element, and one of them shows what he does best - spending his evening at LCS, supporting our varsity volleyball team during their district finals.

πŸ“Έ Thank you, Mr. Westrick! You’re helping capture moments and memories that our families will cherish for a lifetime. We’re so grateful for all that you do for the Summerfield community! πŸ§‘πŸ–€

β˜€οΈ Our next November recognition spotlight shines on Dave Wherry! 🐾

Earlier this school year, Dave generously volunteered an entire day β€” and his tractor β€” to help dig the holes for our new wayfinding signs at both the elementary and Jr/Sr high schools.

Thanks to his hard work, there were no blisters, no broken backs β€” just a generous community member lending a hand to make our schools better. Thank you, Mr. Wherry!🧑

🧑Community Shoutout! πŸ–€

Our second November appreciation post goes to Austin Lett, owner of Lett Machine and Performance!

This summer, Mr. Lett brought his skills and equipment out to the high school to help fix the goalpost crossbar on the practice field after it came down.

We can’t thank him enough for taking time out of his busy schedule to get things back in shape before football season kicked off! πŸˆπŸ™Œ

Thanks for all you do to support our school and community, Austin!

🌟 Volunteer Appreciation Spotlight! 🌟

This November, we’re celebrating the incredible volunteers who make our school district such a wonderful place to learn, work, and grow. Their generosity and dedication truly make a difference! πŸ§‘πŸ–€

Our first spotlight goes to Mr. Josh Miller! 🌿

Mr. Miller has been volunteering his time and talents around our district for years β€” since at least 2016! He spends countless hours trimming hedges, pruning trees and shrubs, and sharing his expert advice to help us keep our campuses looking their best.

We’re so grateful for Mr. Miller's continued commitment and care for our schools. Thank you, Mr. Miller, for helping our district shine β€” inside and out! 🌳✨

🧣Red Ribbon Week β€’ October 23–31🧣 The national theme, β€œLife is a Puzzle, Solve it Drug Free,” reminds us that every choice we make fits into the bigger picture of our lives. SPLT members β€” Anna Eastman, Claire Franzen, Madison Blood, and Maria Moreno β€” designed a pledge banner for our high school students to sign and commit to making healthy, drug-free choices.
