Summerfield Schools offers an excellent academic program at all grade levels with extensive use of technology. One hundred percent of our instructional staff is rated highly qualified for their teaching assignements. District-wide building and infrastructure renovations were recently completed in both schools. Summerfield is a member of the Tri-county Conference and offers numerous male and female inter-scholastic athletics. Summerfield School District is dedicated to the concept that all students can learn in a safe, positive, stimulating, and caring environment.
THE DISTRICT
Summerfield Schools is located in Petersburg, Michigan. Petersburg is a small community in western Monroe County. Summerfield Schools was consolidated in 1947. One of the smallest school districts in Monroe County, the district serves the City of Petersburg, Summerfield Township and parts of Ida Township, Dundee Township and Deerfield Township as a Pre-K-12 school district. Approximately 775 students attend Summerfield and 50 certified personnel serve students in an elementary school building and a junior/senior high school building. School Supply Information
Headphones
Your child will need a good quality pair of headphones, not earbuds, to use everyday with ipads and computers. Earbuds are uncomfortable in most children's ears when worn for extended periods of time and the cords get tangled easily. Investing in a good pair of headphones will ensure they last all year and often longer. The school is unable to supply them for every student, and discourage sharing headphones from a hygienic standpoint.
Individual Supplies
Mid-way through the school year, items such as glue sticks, markers, pencils, and crayons will need to be replenished. Please ask your child how their supplies are holding up.
Classroom Supplies
Some teachers have requested specific brands or items. Please take note of your student's teacher's requests as they have reasons based on experience.
